Touch Typing Tips for 100% Accuracy
Accuracy > Speed
Paradoxically, trying to type fast makes you slower. Every backspace correction takes about 3x as long as typing the correct letter initially. Focus on perfect accuracy, and speed will naturally follow as your muscle memory solidifies.
The "Home Row"
Always return your fingers to the Home Row (left hand on A-S-D-F, right hand on J-K-L-;) after reaching for a key. The bumps on the 'F' and 'J' keys are there to help you find this position without looking down.
Common Metrics
WPM (Words Per Minute) is calculated by taking the total number of characters typed, dividing by 5 (the standard "word" length), and dividing by the time in minutes. Average professional typists reach 65-75 WPM. Competitive typists can reach 150+ WPM.
