PX to EM Conversion

EM is a relative unit. 1em is equal to the current font size.

The default text size in browsers is 16px. So, the default size of 1em is 16px.

The formula to calculate EM is: pixels / parent-font-size = em

Example Calculation

If the parent font size is 16px (default):

16px = 1em
24px = 1.5em (24 / 16 = 1.5)
32px = 2em (32 / 16 = 2)
12px = 0.75em (12 / 16 = 0.75)

Why use EM?

Using EM allows for scalable layouts. If the user changes their browser's default font size, the layout will adjust accordingly. It is essential for responsive and accessible web design.
